Why you can’t afford to miss this event !

Biotensegrity is the key to understanding the new universal Science of Human Body Architecture.

At the Biotensegrity BFS Pre-conference Day, each of our expert presenters will be sharing the secret of how Biotensegrity provides the hidden logic behind their expertise at the leading of edge of their field of discipline. Whether you are a movement, manual or medical practitioner, you cannot afford to miss learning this new logic behind how the human body moves and communicates inside and out. You will learn how the human body connects and corrects itself. You will discover how you can see more clearly, make sense more easily, intervene less and achieve more for your clients.

Biotensegrity forms the bridge that walks us from classical anatomy and biomechanics to the modern science of 21st century, living human body architecture. It makes fundamental sense of so many questions arising in the anatomy classroom, the science laboratory, the therapy room, the athletic field, track or course, the gym and even someone’s guided personal practice at home. As this keystone concept is being realised and researched around the world, it is becoming more and more popular and its essential to know how it applies in practice and the difference between the mysteries revealed and the myths or misunderstandings that go with any new paradigm.

Biotensegrity
in Anatomy

JOHN SHARKEY is a Clinical Anatomist (BACA), accredited exercise physiologist (BASES) and founder of European Neuromuscular Therapy. John is a founding member of the Biotensegrity Interest Group (B.I.G.) and provides unique Biotensegrity focused dissection courses to manual and movement therapists and other allied professionals in Dundee University, Scotland. John is a member of the editorial board for the Journal of Bodywork and Movement Therapies (JBMT), International Journal of Osteopathy and is a medical team member  for the Olympic Council of Ireland.

Joanne Avison

Biotensegrity
in Yoga

JOANNE AVISON is an international teacher of applied structural anatomy for movement and manual practitioners in a variety of fields. She is a professional Structural Integration practitioner and certified teacher (KMI, Anatomy Trains 1998-2005 Tom Myers’ school) and Director of the Art of Contemporary Yoga Teacher Training, London, UK.
As a Member of the BioTensegrity Interest Group (B.I.G.), Joanne is fascinated by the application of BioTensegrity principles to the understanding of the human blueprint and natural biomotional organisation. Her writing and workshops are devoted to making this emerging context for human movement applicable and clearly understood.

Niall Galloway

Fascinated by the numerous examples of geometric patterns and shapes in nature, he has been researching their significance over many years. He is part of a specific interest group looking at the significance of the biotensegrity concept to biomechanics and clinical practice. Working closely with Dr. Stephen Levin he has developed new models that progress our understanding of the structure-function relationship in biology. Leonid Blyum

Biotensegrity
in Structural Intelligence

LEONID BLYUM is a mathematician, biomechanicus and developer of the ABR method. He graduated in 1992 at the University of Novosibirsk with a specialisation in mathematical models of complex systems. His studies involved the structure and the functioning of the musculoskeletal system (biomechanics), and more specifically of the spinal disorders and joint deformities. He worked with his father, a physician specialising in the manual treatment of these disorders. Through study and experience, Leonid developed the belief that musculoskeletal deformities could be well treated with a quasi-static (long and gentle pressure) manual therapy. From 1996 to 2000 he taught applied biomechanics and manual therapy to postgraduate doctors in Moscow.

This event is for everyone

This pre conference day is open to all and would be of particular interest to those attending the 2018 British Fascia Symposium which takes place at the same venue over the following two days.

Looking for more ?

If you are attending the British Fascia Symposium you might also be interested in John Sharkey’s Sunday afternoon workshop.

Treating Myofascial Pelvic Pain – Learn advanced myofascial techniques to improve your ability to work with non-specific Myofascial Pelvic Pain conditions

This workshop is informed by medical research, mixing theory of anatomy supported by a short hands-on practicum. Integrating clinical anatomy and exercise physiology (the foundation of all bodywork and movement therapies) John will provide examples of manual applications for non-specific myofascial pelvic pain (and other common pain issues). The concept of Fascia as a Hydraulic Amplifier, Emergent Properties and Guided Stress Transfer will be investigated in a dynamic manner related specifically to hands-on, digital applications. Delegates will appreciate tensional re-arrangement of the myofasciae within the continuity of embryonic associated fasciae. Consideration will be given to specific loading applied to targeted tissues, direction of the application, velocity, amplitude, frequency, time, depth, combinations/integrations and breath.
